Last week the PSU Tech Writing program met for a meetup. Mo Nishiyama, OHSU, and Kristen McKee, Jama Software, came to discuss Portland’s Write the Docs chapter.

Write the Docs is a global community of people who care about documentation. Their primary gathering places are:
- Our slack network with thousands of members
- Conferences on 3 continents
- Local meetups in over 40 cities
They consider everyone who cares about communication, documentation, and their users to be a member of the community. This can be programmers, tech writers, developer advocates, customer support, marketers, and more.
Write The Docs hosts conferences to share information, discuss ideas, and work together to improve the art and science of documentation. This years annual conference will be held here in Portland, May 3-5. Students interested in attending can volunteer at the conference for free attendance.
Once a month, Write The Docs hosts meetups. This month’s meetup is: Nov 19th from 6-8pm @ Jama Software.
The meetup encouraged PSU Technical Writers to join Write The Docs for an excellent networking resource and community. Learn more on how you can get involved: https://www.writethedocs.org/
